Subacute Rumen Acidosis in Italian Dairy Herds

Subacute Rumen Acidosis in Italian Dairy Herds

$93.99

Subacute rumen acidosis (SARA) represent one of the most important metabolic disorders in intensive dairy farms that affects rumen fermentations, animal welfare, productivity and profitability. A practical need for Veterinarians and Food practitioner, is to have a simple and economic method of diagnosis of SARA, in order to implement in a timely manner the appropriate corrective diet, eliminate the causes of arrival of this disorder and avert the danger of progress in the same very high levels. In response to these requests, the aim of this work, was to lead three different studies related to each other but, in order to evaluate the occurrence of subacute rumen acidosis in intensive Italian dairy herds to determine the relationship among diet composition, ruminal pH and short chain fatty acids (SCFA) concentration, to evaluate the effect of the SARA on some blood parameters in lactating dairy cows and finally to evaluate the effects of rumenocentesis on the health and welfare status of lactating dairy cows, evaluated by physical examination, blood analysis, milk production and superficial temperature on the area of rumenocentesis. Metabolic Disorders of Transition Dairy Cows

Metabolic Disorders of Transition Dairy Cows

$178.44

The transition period is often defined as the interval beginning three weeks precalving and ending three weeks postcalving. It is a period where the dairy cow undergoes tremendous metabolic, physiological and nutritional changes to ensure provision of adequate nutrients for processes of calving and milk production. If the dairy cow cannot adapt quickly to these challenges that indeed is happened for most of modern dairy cows she face different metabolic disorders. The occurrence of health problems hence is clearly a major complicating factor for subsequent productive, reproductive performance and herd profitability that resulting in substantial economic losses. Therefore, control of metabolic disorders is crucially important for modern dairy herds as during the past 20 years a huge amount of experiments has focused on this field. To control and prevention from these disorders, exact understanding of each disorder is inevitable. Of Herds and Hermits

Of Herds and Hermits

$33.95

Celebrated for its commitment to independence and fearless individualism, America in fact dismisses independent thinkers and nonconformists in favor of the team player, the company man, and the go-along-to-get-along mentality. This anti-intellectual mindset despises and discredits those who are solitary and reclusive. While we look up to literary loners like Poe and Melville and Dickinson, the man in the street is a compulsive joiner of clubs, and herds from university frats to the Order of the Pink Goat. To the contrary, this book is a paean vigorously endorsing America's lone wolves, cultural hermits, and all such independent thinkers, solitary and marginalized figures, who are the cultural bedrock of the nation that detests them.<br /
